Half price pizza Tuesdays are pretty good.

Came here for trivia night with some of my friends and had a blast! Good decent beer selection but they don't have a lot of craft beers. The food is also great. My friends who got burgers didn't have a complaint and the pizza is great. Coming from New York, i hope that has an impact. There are also good specials on monday/tuesday (50% off pizza) and wednesdays (50% off bottle wine and burgers). Don't be turned off by the location or the exterior. This was definitely a great hangout spot found during my stay here in the maryland/D.C area.

The problem with Stained Glass Pub is its location. It's in a very run-down part of Silver Spring (by no means dangerous, just K-Mart chic) and has its windows blocked out with the titular stained glass. It's hard to find, and annoying to get to if you aren't approaching from the north. That said, it is one of the better places for reasonably priced food in the Silver Spring area. Everything I've had there is very good, with quality ingredients cooked properly. While they (and everyone other restaurant) claims that their pizza is the best in town, Stained Glass Pub actually has a case for the best cracker-crust pizza, especially at the price point.

***this rating based on service and one appetizer and trivia. the rest of their food and drinks could be great, but we don't know (and will likely not return to find out)*** My wife and I dig pub trivia but don't drink alcohol so we always try and make up for it by ordering something. We went on a Thursday for the trivia night and ordered our appetizer and when we said 'no drinks' our waitress literally (correct usage here) rolled her eyes at us! what she brought out was a poor excuse for nachos- chips covered in a lukewarm canned chili, a glob of sour cream and generic guac. meh. our friends got a dessert that they said was good- so I'll give them that. as for the Trivia- it wasn't particularly challenging, ergo, not much fun. I kid you not, one of the questions was "what did protestors destroy during the Boston Tea party?" Looks like a nice place (once you get inside) there was a good crowd, but we didn't see any reason to go back

Good pizza. Rude staff. This place is KNOWN for the rude bartenders. I will never go back.

3 1/2 stars. Been here a couple times with friends who live closeby. It is definitely has that sort of divey neighborhood restaurant/bar vibe. Not like a Matchbox type decor place. Their kitchen opens late, which is a good thing, as my friends and I were starving around midnight and had to get their pizza. Their pizza is just great. Reminds me of the old White Flint Eatery, Italiano, where they made tray size pizzas as well as Ledos pizza. I think this place has better pizza than Ledos which is saying a lot. Haven't tried anything else here but their pizza. I've been here for drinks at their bar too and the prices are just right. They even have karaoke night (I think it's on Wednesdays). So glad there are still places like these still around! One note, when dining though, whenever someone opens that outside patio, you are just engulfed with cigarette smoke, so make sure you sit somewhere far away from that door.

Used to come here all the time , not no more rude staff and Bar manager . She was very rude after a patron walk out on his tab and accuse me of having to pay his tab because the guy was sitting next to me and was making conversation with me so that makes me responsible for his tab . Paid my tab and left the other bar tender a good tip that was the same amount of the other guys tab to prove a point . Will never be back . You don't speak to your customers in a rude way . Learn how to talk to customers or better yet don't hire a bar manager that does not now how to speak to customers like you are suppose to .

Service was very good. A server was very nice guy. But I can't give 5 stars because Pastas were not perfect. For the next time, I will try pizza!!!

Delicious pizza at this cozy establishment!! Monday & Tuesday offer half priced pizza, well worth it to come during the week. The crust is thin and flaky, and topped with the right amount of toppings so that it didn't become soggy. Not a huge assortment of craft beer, but plenty of domestic brands. They also have sandwiches, wraps and other pub foods. We will definitely keep this on our "go to" list!

It's a little divey with good pizza and really bad parking. Staff has always been friendly and you get this local town vibe. They aren't a fancy joint and I often see large groups of kids and families (place to meet up after sports games?) The pizza is a lot like ledos and they are generous with the cheese. The deduction is for the appetizers. They aren't that great - jalapeno stuffed w cheese or the spinach dip (really greasy). But decent beer choices. Not a bad local joint.

This place is awesome! Full disclosure I have eaten inside a few times. But when I'm in the area I get pizza and wings to go. I can't get them 5 stars because of parking. The parking sucks. The lot is really really small. The pizza crust is legit! The wings are great. My partner and I get the peel and eat shrimp for an app. If you eat in on Monday the pizza is half off! Never had a problem with service. Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive even when they are busy. Did I mention their bomb ass crust?

Still 4 stars, which is nice since there aren't many pubs left in the Wheaton/Glenmont area. But the nice news is they are doing some remodeling. It's not that you'll wonder whether you've come to the Stained Glass Pub because it's so different, but the woodwork is being freshened up, there's a new floor, and some other nice touches. They were working in there today so looking forward to going back and seeing the finished product!

This used to be a good place. Now, the kitchen and staff could care less what they serve.

We used to come to Stained Glass Pub when I was a kid. A LOT. And it has been years since I've been here, but we came last night and it was even better than I remembered. SGP dishes out the best pizza money can buy (NOTE: I am a pizza snob and I hate buying pizza because I know I can make it better and cheaper than most places). With that said, this pizza is delicious. The cheese is ooey-gooey-melty deliciousness, the sauce is the perfect blend of savory spices and the crust is uhhhmazing. They have a special talent here for serving pizza that will burn the F out of your mouth. And I've done it. Every time I've been here. You know that spot on the roof of your month right behind your teeth? Well there and the tip of my tongue are paying for my visit last night. Yes, this place is pretty damn divey, but if you're in the mood for pizza, this is the place to go. The bar area can get pretty loud, but I remember the dining room always had room for large parties when I came as a kid and we had plenty of room last night when we went in. Also worth noting the service is great and they offer carry-out if you don't want to eat inside.

Positioned in an odd little area with minimal parking. That being said the pizza is good. Service is pretty timely despite usually being busy. 1/2 pizza on Tuesday. Gotta like it!

I came here to watch a World Cup game in between the ceremony and reception part of a wedding nearby. Most everyone liked their pizzas, I ordered their potato skins which were just OK- melted cheese with fake bacon crumbles, not actual real bacon. They forgot my sour cream, and my order came after everyone else had finished eating. Overall, friendly service though for accommodating over 20 people.

Came here for the first time for lunch on Tuesday..and ran into the 1/2 off pizza deal, very nice surprise. It was busy but not over crowded and We got seated right away. We were in a hurry so we ordered our Lg. Sausage and onion pizza almost immediately.. Pizza came out in less then 10 minutes (hell yeah)! I did notice we received our pizza before other parties who were already there received their food. Pizza was really good. Reminded me of the thin crust pies they serve up in the Midwest. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed for the 2-3 tables she was covering.. but the other gentleman hooked us up with refills before us asking and even boxed up our leftovers..nice guy, maybe the owner.. Overall I would recommend you at least try this place out. I believe it is NOT a franchise and a lot of the other food there looked really tasty. Definitely a good find.

I love the atmosphere of the place and what it's going for, the servers are amazing, and the drinks are cheap and plentiful. However the food is mediocre if not bad. I was informed this is the closest thing to Detroit-style pizza in my neck of the woods and everyone was mowing down on massive pizzas next to us so it sounded like a good deal (especially because pizza's half price on Monday and Tuesday!) I went for a "supreme / combo" style pizza because I like to pretend I'm getting my veggies while I'm clogging my arteries with my favorite nitrate-addled meat, pepperoni. The crust on their pizza is abysmal. It's thin, doughy, bland, and and on par with the crusts on the one dollar Celeste pizzas. I genuinely believe the crust is the most important part of a pizza and this sad playdoh tasting crust proved my point- it collapsed under the weight of the toppings and was a wet, mooshy, sloppy experience. Maybe I ordered too many toppings, but a "supreme" is such a default pizza topping choice it shouldn't have been butchered this badly. Second, they use canned mushrooms for the toppings which is an absolute no. This place is packed and the apps are the prices of entrees, you can afford sliced fresh mushrooms yo. It was like eating snails. Salads are pricy and fixed directly from the open salad bar when you order a "garden salad"- iceberg topped with cherry tomatoes, thick sliced cukes and thick sliced bell pepper. It's not stale but it's ponderosa quality ingredients. The apps hover around 8-10 dollars as well. I wouldn't mind coming back for drinks, joining trivia night, or have a go at the ping pong machine but the parking situation also would make me think twice about choosing SGP. The lot is PACKED with cars queuing up on the main roadway (very dangerous and inconsiderate by the way!) so we had to pay five bucks to park at the metro. I do feel like I'm being unnecessarily harsh because it serves it's main function as a local watering hole well (that would be 5/5) but would feel dishonest rating a food establishment any higher with such sad pizza.

Stopped here to meet up with a friend in order to attend a nearby concert. Ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, canadian bacon, mushrooms and jalapeños. I didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. Nothing fancy, seemed like it was something you may have thrown together at home, but it was a good and honest pizza. We sat outside, and my only negative was the amount of cigarette smoke generated by the other patio patrons.

I'd say this place is a local combination of Ledo's and Pizza Hut. Pizza is Ledo's like but a little heartier; I personally like that style but have to be in the mood for it. Ambiance is pretty Pizza Hut at dinner time; lots of little league teams and families with litters of children; but the food is better than Ledo's and therefore obviously better than Pizza Hut. Overall I can appreciate that they took the uniquely Maryland Ledo's style pizza and made it better; and I'm an Italian American than grew up on NY pizza. The bar side can get pretty busy on a weekend night and while it's far from young and hip there's a homey, suburban, "everybody knows your name" watering hole energy to it that gives a certain charm. We got the wings once while in the bar and they were pretty solid. Only other thing of note is that already good prices become ridiculously good on Mondays and Tuesdays when pizza is half price with the purchase of a drink.

  • Andrew Q.

My go to place for football Sunday's. The bar is always full with lively characters and most of the food options are on point. Monday's and Tuesday's are half off pizza and Wednesday's are half off burgers which are highly underrated. I particularly don't like the Trivia and Karaoke nights just because they ruin the vibe but that's just me. You can't go wrong with their pizza

I was there today for an end of season basketball party for kids. I got worried when I saw that they were crowded and understaffed but the crew came through in flying colors. They quickly brought in more people and did their best to satisfy the large crowd. The manager even made a point to come over at the end and square everything which I thought was real professional and definitely makes me want to come back. Food and beer was excellent. We mostly did pizza and wings but they were great. I used to go to Sol di Italia up the road for all group pizza outings but stopped going there recently as the atmosphere and pizza has gone way downhill. Stained Glass Pub really came through today under tough circumstances and I will make sure to go back there in the future. Pizza even topped Ledos which was my favorite local pizza previously.

A nice pub in an odd location with tons of charm. Went here for trivia night and enjoyed some good pizza, fries and a burger. Service was quick and friendly. Good alcohol selection as well. Parking isn't always easy if its busy but otherwise its a nice place.

  • Susie K.

The service was great but the food is nothing to go crazy about. The pizza was good, less pastry crust tasting than Ledo's pizza. We ordered a medium mushroom pizza which came out completely oozing in cheese... (good or bad? I'm not sure). The Old Bay wings were good, no inherent Old-Bay taste from them though. The steak caesar salad was yummy but a bit overly doused in dressing for my taste. It's pretty big inside but the parking situation is cramped in the front, you have the option of paying at the metro station and walking over (it's very close) I would come back if it was a big group and we were watching a game but not for much other than that

I'll say... their pizza is very delicious! Half priced pizza on Mondays and HH from 5-7pm. The Happy Hour for drinks is only $1.00 off the normal price. It's ok because their menu is rather cheap anyway. Now, I'm not sure if this was an isolated thing but the chicken wings I had were awful! They were dry, overcooked, and hardly warm. I ordered Old Bay flavored wings, and they weren't anything of Old Bay.. just OLD. It seemed like they had been sitting out for a bit and then reheated. Bleh! My girls wings (BBQ) were delicious though... but again they were cold. I think it was just our waitress, she moved a bit slow and was very forgetful, but she tried, so we didn't even mention it. The staff is usually friendly... unless you have two energetic-bouncy kids (not mine lol) AND if your waitress and her colleague happen to be older women, who don't care for much noise.. that's another story. Parking=NIGHTMARE. That so called lot can hold... 20 something cars? I was lucky to find the ONLY spot left yesterday. Overall it's a cute local pub that's nice to go in and grab a beer and pizza.

Let me start by saying, their Monday and Tuesday half off pizza special is an AWESOME DEAL for great pizza! Now, onto the review; Classic divey, neighborhood pub with great pizza, fries, and burgers. Can get a bit rowdy later in the day so leave the newborn at home and gear up for the whiskey, draft beer and sports. (Decent pitcher deals too.) Happy hour prices are good. Cool back patio when the weather is good. Good place to go for a big group of guys.

An Iconic classic pizza place than many of my local family will frequent. Half price pizza is the best deal. After eating Dominic's Sols pizza stop and the chained out MD original Ledos they have the best tasting Sauce in the area with great square crust in this league of local pizza places. I think I need to go to corner pub next

  • Samantha S.

Great place for pizza. Every Monday they have half priced pizza which is one of my top 5 favorites. A little warning it is a bit on the greasy side but it's cause the mix of cheese that they use. The spinach dip is an app must. Service is usually very good and friendly.

This place is a landmark. It has great pizza and drinks. Plenty of parking. And the menu has a great selection. It has plenty of original bar Apps to sandwiches and pizza. Great kids menu. 1/2 price pizza nights. And TVs everywhere to watch plenty of games.

The environment and service were outstanding, food was bar variety but the food was cooked to order, medium rare burger was on point. The atmosphere was great, close to what you would expect from a 70s bar

  • C B.

I didn't eat here, but got beers to watch a game with a friend. Stacked boxes and condiments at the edge of an otherwise empty dining room. On duty waitstaff ate their shift meals in the dining room. Smokers outside let their smoke flow right into the main room. The beer was cold, but the atmosphere is basically like a bare-bones diner with a dive bar attached.

I've been making the long trek up 95/495 for the Stained Glass Pub's thin-crust, distinctively square pizzas for about a year and a half now. While I haven't lived in Maryland in almost five years, I discovered this place in mid-2013, as I have friends who live close to the pub. When walking into the restaurant, you immediately get the sense that it's about a step above a neighborhood dive bar. That's a plus for me, as it adds a certain amount of atmosphere. There are always numerous locals at the bar, so it never feels like the place is totally dead (and I've been there close to closing time on a number of occasions). The food is uniformly good. I'm a HUGE Ledo's fan, so I'm automatically partial to Detroit-style pies (even speaking as a transplanted upstate New Yorker). While some of the waitstaff don't seem all that friendly, the service is generally pretty prompt. The large pizzas are just that--massive. You'll probably need at least three people to comfortably finish one off. When paired with a pitcher of (pick your favorite brew), it hits the spot. I intend to keep coming here for the foreseeable future, and heartily recommend it to anyone in the area. A note about the parking. As other Yelpers have noted, it stinks. If you decide to take advantage of the half-priced pizza nights on Monday and Tuesday, be prepared to look outside the restaurant's (barely adequate) lot to find a space. To SGP management's credit, they do post on the front door stating that parking (albeit not free) is available in the Metro station parking garage next door, and that if you park at the nearby mall you'll be towed (I know this from experience, sadly).

  • Kirk M.

If your looking for good pizza outside the corporate box this is your place. However, take note the Monday/ Tuesday half off special will not save you a penny as everyone at the table will be required to order a drink. Also if you want fast service and your food tasting good come in the evening as the cooks change shifts and more then one server is working the floor.. saving the most important last if you enjoy tasteless dough without flavor and made of only flour and oil you will enjoy the pizza made on a sheet pan. Took this out of the refrigerator only to want to spit it out after the first bite. don't forget you will be surrounded by a drinking crowd while trying to eat.

The pizza and their barbecue wings are delicious!! They have half-price pizzas on Monday night and Tuesday night.

This place is a great bargain for decent food. We really enjoyed the happy hour wings (both cost and the quality were excellent). The large pizza is huge and was pretty tasty (also... it reheated well at home!). They have a kids menu (my son enjoyed his chicken tenders and fries---and I thought the fries were good as well). The beers were a great price at happy hour and they actually had a decent selection (though their menu didn't give any descriptions and the server was less than helpful). Aside from somewhat dark and dated decor (what do you expect, based on the outside?), the only real drawbacks I saw were the tight parking lot (we were there at dinner time on a Friday) and the slightly surly/over-worked service. We'll definitely return... hopefully for a happy marriage of happy hour and half-priced pizza on a Monday or Tuesday! Oh, also, they do happy hour throughout the restaurant---which is a huge bonus when you have a kid and can't (or don't want to) sit at the bar.

  • Sara R.

Family friendly during the day on weekends and is a great establishment for football games! Like that they have a salad bar when dining in. Pizza, wings (blackened or Thai) and steam shrimp are some things I always look forward to when coming here!

  • Jenna S.

Great pizza! It is most similar to midwest (not Chicago-style) pizza. If you like pizza with thin, crispy crust with lots of herbs in it, this is the pizza for you. I haven't eaten in the restaurant so can't speak to the decor/atmosphere, but they have always been prompt when I have called in the order. We were sad to leave this place when we moved, but happy that there is another Stained Glass Pub near our new city.

  • Mark N.

Came here for the half-price pizzas. Pizzas were around $6 but you have to get a beverage with it. They were pretty decent size portions. A small can serve up to 2-4 people. I will definitely come back here to try other items on the menu.

    (4)
  • Carol K.

Enjoyed the large pizza! It was good, close to Ledo's but better! Pitcher of beer, tossed salad and a large pizza! Will go back!!!

  • Cece R.

I absolutely love this place!!! My friends and I went here for girls night out and we had such a good time. Our server was very good and the drinks were on point! Their pizza puts Ledo's to shame. Not to mention, the prices were very friendly to our wallets.

  • Stephanie S W.

I live near here and have been trying to make time to go forever and finally found myself at SGP for trivia night. Trivia was a ton of fun and we even ended up winning 3rd place. I will say that their prices are surprising. For 2 pizzas, several pitchers of beers, and an appetizer, our bill was somehow $150?!?! WTF, in Glenmont? No sir. And if you win trivia, you can't use your prize giftcard until your next visit. While the pizza was good, I will say the prices are really what got me. One tip - if you go on their website they have deals posted. There is currently a $3 off a large pizza deal. Just print and bring in with you!

This is a great place if you want good bar food and a chill environment. I always get there curly fries and their burgers are great. They always have great specials during the week, like half off pizza, burgers and hot dogs.

  • Carl n.

Remember coming here when I moved to the area 3 years ago for almost a year. The owner is obviously overworked and it is easy to see when you look at how overall place is run, as it seems to trickle down and envelop the overall atmosphere. In other words, Service can be slow, slightly impatient, moving fast but not always with a purpose. I did not try the food because, judging by how long you need to wait for the beer, the food might take quite a bit of time. So-so beer selection. This is a dive bar, but the kind that isn't trying to be all (annoyingly) trendy about it, so that is a plus, could be cleaner.

Last night proved that we don't come here often enough. In the words of my son, "I LOVE that place". It is family friendly, it has all of the basics, and those basics are Oh So Tasty. who can beat the 5 dollar happy hour specials? Wings, nachos, fried zucchini and potato skins. AND 1/2 off pizza during those hours too. There are TV's all over the place to catch your favorite March Madness game (or whatever sport suits you) and the staff treat you like family. And by "treat you like family" I mean...had one waitress ask us to move over because she was expecting her "regulars". Really? Even the waitress who served us was taken aback by that one! Oh well, we were still satisfied and happy. The parking pretty much sucks, but Belmont TV is now closed next door so there is room over there. Long live the small business owners! Seriously, forget those wing joints that advertise on TV and give Stained Glass Pub your money.

I've lived in the area for 31 years and never set foot into this place until my parents who retired started going here for Happy Hour. Man why did I wait 31 years!! this place reminds you of the show "Cheers" where everyone knows your name. This neighborhood bar is a gem which cannot be found in too many bars anymore. I've only eaten the pizza here but it is excellent. Its square like Ledo's but prob has a much better crust and its tomatoe sauce isn't seet like Ledos. After you pay for three toppings every topping afterwards is free. I love how they pile on the toppings and the pizza remains crisp. This is a good place for happy hour where they have drink specials and half price appeitzers from 3-7 at the bar. Make sure you get there early.

  • Sheena K.

I'm a huge fan of the pizza! It's excellent, however I couldn't give it a 5 because of the poor state of affairs when I entered the facilities.

    (4)
  • James D.

Amazing, crispy, flaky, pastry like crust! They are also generous with the toppings. If you order a pizza with everything, you get everything! ; ) That being said, this is not traditional pizza crust. It's something different, but amazing in it's uniqueness.

  • Kenny C.

Well by the looks of the first couple of reviews, everybody loves the location and the pizza. Considering it was my first time here, I figured I would try something else. That was my first mistake. I had the beef chili that had more beans and tomatoes than beef. The wings were terrible, tiny drumettes not even standard size wings and the spicy Thai sauce was nonexistent. Needless to say, Stephanie controlled the bar. $3.50 10oz beer???? I'd rather go to Hooters, which I did right after I left. $4.50 25oz beer...

Delicious pizza. In an area where it is difficult to find good pizza - Stained Glass Pub turns out good pizza at reasonable prices. On Mondays and Tuesday they have 1/2 price pizza if it's dine-in and you buy a soda for each member of the party. Cheese and sauce very tasty and it's worth a try!

    (5)
  • Georgia A.

The only good thing about this place was the service. The waitress was nice and very sincere. However the food was terrible the pizza was very crunchy and the cheese felt like rubber. I would not come back here again.

*****3.5 stars***** This place is good...for their pizza, everything else I'll pass on. I came here a couple times to enjoy their 1/2 priced pizza special on Monday/Tuesday nights and grab a couple drinks. Thin crust, cheesy, pepperoni pizza shaped like a square goodness...delicious! A medium pizza with one topping was $12.49 and with the special it was less than $7. Sweet! The drinks are pretty cheap too ($5 for a mixed drink and $2-$4 for a pint of beer). I decided to try their steak and cheese sub one night ($8.49-steak, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion)...just okay, nothing special. The sub came out somewhat sloppy, with the ingredients just tossed in there. I also dislike when the ends of tomatoes are used...big no no for me! I've also tried their shrimp and crab dip ($9.99-shrimp, crab pieces in a creamy parmesan sauce with a toasted baquette). Pretty good! Not sure if I taste the crab, but you'll find pieces of shrimp in there. Pretty tasty, especially when it first comes out (it's nice and hot!). The bar tenders are pretty nice. There's a bunch of regulars that come here. BTW they have Keno here and the parking lot is a hot mess most of the time.

Dive bar. It's ok. Service is good, stained glass is interesting. Beer is small (12 oz draft), food is hit and miss: hit on wings and pizza, miss on burgers and sandwiches.

  • Doug S.

There's nothing angelic or holy about this place, just damned good pizza. A locals favorite, don't expect to park in the lot on Mondays or Tuesdays for half price pizza nights. Cheap loud and good. What more could you want in a neighborhood bar?

Went for the first time and really enjoyed it. There is trivia on Thursdays and the hamburger was out of this world. Nice pub for locals.

  • Willis N.

I love coming here on pizza night!. The pizza is one of the best pizzas I've had. I wouldn't come here wednesdays though unless you're into the karaoke scene. I went there on wednesdays for burger nite and karaoke was annoying -__- couldnt even enjoy my burger or watch the game that was on. Make sure when you go here find a good parking spot. Don't be parking over by 7-eleven or the shopping center because the lot is full find another place that you can park because they will tow your car! Trust me G&G towing has spotters that call up tow trucks that are parked a few blocks away and will tow your car.

  • Phi N.

People really like the pizza here. I don't know, it didn't do it for me... Service, atmosphere, and karaoke night are all really good, but this rating is based on my food. It wasn't horrible, I just prefer other pizza places around here. Toppings and crust itself were subpar.

Having just moved to this region and thus enduring the limited after-11pm foodie scene, I was forced to come to this place at 11:50 to get some late-night snacking. While their pizza was amazing (oh-so-cheeeesy), the service was downright horrible, making me unable to wait to yelp about this. This place is run by a galore of assholes. I called to order a pizza, literally 1 minute later (looking at my call log right now), I called again to ask the guy to take out some more toppings due to an allergy, he snapped "It's already cooked, honey," then while he was hanging up, I heard "Geez, motherfucker wanna change the order." The funny thing is, he asked if this was the same *Michelle* that put in an order 2 minutes ago or another *Michelle*, and if I called back to cancel the order or to add another pizza. So he was willing to cancel an order, but as soon as I asked him to take out some extra toppings A WHOLE MINUTE LATER, he said no and that the pie was already cooked? When I came over to pick up the pizza, I told him my name and he cut in "I know who you are -Michelle" and proceeded to slam the pizza on the bar counter. Now, I didn't know this guy was tall and big, so when I got my check to sign, I was inclined to give him my 20% tip. Talk about a batshit crazy dude on menopause. Now I know why none of my roommates wants to call in an order and forces the phone on me... On that note, scientists should really make a spit-inspector for food industry, just in case you know...?

I was invited to this pub by a pub regular. He even has his own special dish. When you walk in, you think CHEERS (like the show, not the toast). It is very diverse, which for some reason I was shocked by. We all CAN get along! I digress... I went there to watch some football...and that is what I did. There are plenty of screens in close proximity to each other, which makes it easy to keep up with all the football action. I was told that I had to try the pizza. The pizza was good, not write home about good, but good nonetheless. The atmosphere is comfortable and makes you feel like you are truly at the neighborhood pub. Everyone was talking, laughing, dancing and cracking jokes about one another's teams. I can see why my friend frequents this place. It is the place where, *singing* "everybody knows your name..."

We came here at 5:30pm with two other families to enjoy their pizza deal. All three of us have 2 year olds. The service we received was awful. We had to change seats due to the growing number of people in our group and the waitress rudely informed us with an attitude that she does not appreciate it but ended up pulling another table over. We ordered pizza, nachos and beer. After we were done eating , two of the 2-year olds went to another table and "talked" to a group of senior citizens. Another waitress came over immediately to inform us that the senior citizens are trying to enjoy their dinner and do not want to be bothered. We apologized and took our children away, but the senior citizens enjoyed the kids being there and actually never said anything. We received and annoying look and an attitude when we asked to split the check in three. Unfortunately, a service charge was included, as is normal for lager parties, so we could not show our displeasure with the service with the tip. I ended up speaking with the manager, who said a whole lot of nothing. That was our second time getting rude service when dining their as a family. It might be different with older children, but as a family restaurant, it is a shame. We will not be back, they have lost our service forever.

I used to hang out at this place a lot. We're talking 4 to 5 nights a week, so let's just say I know the food and the place well. It's a good crowd and a good time. Monday and Tuesday feature 1/2 price pizzas, that is certainly worth checking out. Wednesday offers 1/2 price burgers that are very tasty; if you ask your bartender nicely, they'll even substitute cottage cheese for the french fries if you're like me. The drinks are strong, the regulars are a good group of people that are fun to socialize with, but things get a little icy if your bartender stops liking you. Yet still, I return. It's that great of an establishment. So go check out the Stained Glass Pub if you haven't yet. And remember....Sam a Goat loves YOU!!

This place is a classic pub. There blackened wings are amazing! and the pizza is great. The y have kareoke on certain days and trivia sometimes. This is a great place to drink or eat. i highly recomend it! Dont forget to try the blackened wings!

This is the best place in the neighborhood to grab a bite to eat or a cold beer after a long day at work. The decor is not much to look at but it does the trick. You can't beat 1/2 priced pizzas on Monday and Tuesday; 1/2 priced burgers on Wednesday and the food is solid across the board. My favorite thing about the Stained Glass Pub, though, is that its got the most eclectic crowd of any place for miles and miles in any direction: professionals coming back from work, retired couples grabbing an early bite to eat, the regulars and locals seated at the bar, you name it. All told, this is what a neighborhood establishment should be. A real gem and asset to the area.

Best pizza I've had on the EastCoast Hands Down! My fiancé and I go here often.I love this place it has become a part of our montgomery county tradition.

Hadn't been here in years, but stopped by because I was in the neighborhood. I was never a regular but I had been here enough. It doesn't disappoint if you know what you are looking for and what you are looking for is strait up bar food. Still haven't tried the pizza. I kinda have a place for that already. If I still lived in this area I would frequent the place. 2-3 times a month.

Good food with great service. I ordered hamburger with drink. The hamburger is just great. I love the food there. They have cable and TV that you can watch like sports, news and etc. It is a perfect place to hang out with friends, family and lovers. The bar is just amazing. The place is very suitable for meeting new people and get to know each other. The pub has a pretty nice parking lot. The price is intermediate. I love the environment inside and the space is pretty big. The customers won't feel very tiny. I recommend the place.

This place is only so-so. I'm not sure why there are so many reviews that rave about the food - it's really only ok at best. We decided to make our own sampler and ordered wings, pizza, and curly fries. The pizza was pretty flavorless. The only reason you could tell there was tomato sauce on it was because you could see the red. It could have been red food dye for all the difference it made. The cheese was pretty much the same. The crust was actually decent, nice and crisp. If you showed up at this place with your own toppings and said, "Here put this shit on the crust," you could get a decent pizza. The wings were pretty mediocre, kind of greasy with some sort of generic sauce poured over them. The curly fries were competent. If I wanted to subsist on a diet of curly fries and beer I could definitely come here again. While we were waiting, a waitress came out of the kitchen with a big salad bowl and a box. She proceeded to open the box and remove a bag of lettuce, a bag of tomatoes, a bag of bacon and other toppings, and mix them together. Essentially, it was one big salad kit, like you can get at the grocery store. I have a feeling that's what most of the food here is, just frozen or premade stuff they heat up for you in the kitchen and bring out. Tada!

Food was decent, but the staff are thieves! I forgot my wallet at the table, and when I returned 10 minutes later a waitress handed it to me minus the twenty dollar bill that was in it. I guess she wanted to triple her tip. Most wait staff are honest hard workers so it's just bad luck that I got served by this person.

I thought the food was pretty good. Great, having come back for...no, but a really good, solid meal every time. The pizza here is really pretty good. It's square. No sweet sauce. I found parking good as there's a lot, but on a very noticeable hill. The place is dated inside with alot of semi-close tables and booths on one side (2/3) and an old bar on the other. (1/3) I think, for pizza (only) it's on the pricier side and more like a Ledo's or restaurant, not delivery like a dominos.

first of all- Donis M.- have no idea where you got the plenty of parking. this has to be the worst of them all. tiny lot and it's slanted. nightmare to get in and especially out! but that only docks this place one star. fabulous pizza! love the thin crust and the greasiness and denseness. plus it's so cheap! Monday and Tuesday nights are half off. worth trying even if you're coming from far!

  • Toby R.

Seriously, if you've never had their pizza, kick rocks. It is AMAZING! And, what's better, if you come on Monday or Tuesday, it's half-price!! Also, the bar is comfy and the service is great!

  • Marie Z.

The parking was easy, they now have another lot on the other side of the building.. Now to the pizza, thin fluffy crust.... the toppings are scary.... If you are looking for a heart atack, they pile them on, they do not skimp, rather pile the topping on. This place is not a fancy smancy place, but they have a good old fashioned menu, salad bar and good service. It is clean and a good old fashioned menu.

I highly recommend the artichoke and spinach dip, it is the best ever, the chicken temders and fries r great too. the pizza is pretty good too i always get pepperoni amd cheese. the steak and cheese is real good. the atmosphere is good too, it just feels cozy and welcoming, although the bar can get loud later after 8pm. and it gets packed in the pub so not much space for parking but i love this place, my fav hangout

The Stained Glass Pub (sometimes known as the Stained Glass Pleasure Palace) is a fun family restaurant. The waitstaff is top-notch. One time I ordered chips and salsa and they brought potato chips, but the waiter immediately corrected the mistake. Another time I found some small piece of asphalt in my milkshake, but they didn't charge me for it. Definitely go for karaoke on Wednesday nights. Twist the DJ is tons of fun, although sometimes he has someone else fill in for him when he is on his European tour. The pizza (known there as "za") is good. Make sure to order it "extra cripsy" with pepperoni and snausage. Also leave room for the Brownie Surprise for dessert.

yes its very dated and old looking and yes as you walk in there is a bar to your right and the dining room to your left and tv's everywhere but oh....the half priced pizzas on Mondays and Tuesdays are hard to beat. All the people in your party have to have a drink in order to participate in the deal and it is so worth it. This pizza is delicious. The toppings are generous, and the bread is just right. My family of 3 fills up on a large everytime and that is crazy! As far as pizza goes, this place is #1 for me.

This place has been and always will be a dive. But the food is rather good considering the decor of the place. It is bar type food, but all quite delicious. Their pizza is very good and so are some of the other dishes. The parking is terrible if its full and some of the clientele can be creepy. However, I have been going to this place since I was a child with my father after softball and baseball games. Nothing has changed since the 80's and this place will always have a place in my heart.

I went for the first time last night - the pizza was VERY good. There's a $3 coupon for a large pizza on the website that you can print out. Monday/Tuesday is half price pizza, which I will definitely partake in next time. Wednesdays are half price burgers, I remember the server saying? The decor left much to be desired, but it is what it is and isn't that big of a deal. You should not come expecting a 5 star, swanky meal. I will definitely return!

DONT SKIP MY REVIEW BECAUSE I GAVE IT 5 STARS!!! i really mean it. and no, im not part of the owners family, an employee, or paid to write a fake review like tons of other places on yelp and google. seriously. Its a happy welcoming affordable place thats the closest to Cheers that you will find locally. Its the best beer, pizza, and wings joint youll find. I ordered a massive MASSIVE pizza with a ton of toppings an appetizer, and beers for $20 bucks total. Can not beat it. The location looks like an old Shakys restaurant. Cozy, homegrown. i dig it.

It wasn't bad. I mean, I probably won't rush there for the pizza ever again. It was just OK for me. Very buttery. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't bad, and it seems to be very popular around here. But for me, just OK. Other than that, it's an old school neighborhood bar. I saw some reviews that knocked it for that look (dive, dirty, old decor, etc), but I love it that way. It reminds me of the sorts of little places my dad used to take me as a little kid waaaay back when we lived in east Toledo, OH. I don't know that I'd rush here for dinner or lunch. Parking was a nightmare, but I am close enough to walk so it doesn't matter. What I WILL be doing at some point (possibly many points) this football season is heading there to catch some games and beers at the bar. The place seems to me like it would be perfect for that. I intend to find out :D

Let me preface this by saying that I am reviewing this place as a pub, not as a restaurant. The pizza did look pretty legit. Maybe it was the mood that I was in going into the restaurant, but as soon as I walk in the door I was overcome by a lingering sense of despair of our recession laden society. It was karaoke night at the club and I have to say that it was probably the most underwhelming one I have ever seen. The only people I saw perform were old out-of-tune ladies and overweight homosexuals. There was mostly working class dudes wearing O's gear but the few girls that were there tended to cater to that demographic as well. The beers were small but the shots were big, which suited my intentions for the night perfectly. Unfortunately the bartender was a little scatter brained and forgot people's drinks on more than one occasion. In a nutshell, this is just a standard working class bar in a working class neighborhood which would make a for a great dive bar if only the people were more interesting.

This place has great pizza but let me tell you why I didn't give it 4 starts 1) Parking - it's a hassle to find parking 2) The décor - or lack of, the tables, carpets, and paint is so old that it looks dirty, even if it's not 3) Service - the service guy was so so rude, no one has to put up with such attitude and then pay for it. 4) Smell - since parking space is so small the trash dumpsters are right there and the smell is very strong Like I said, we have visited this place for many years, then we stopped going for the reason already stated, went back today to see if things had change and unfortunately, they haven't still great pizza bad everything!

The very definition of a dive bar, yet still somewhat family friendly. Good pizza, great hot wings, and the pitchers always hit the spot. A great place to meet your team after a local rec league softball game. Patty is the best server there! Perfect neighborhood spot.

Yummy pizza. As stated in another review, it is very similar to Ledo's pizza in being rectangular and thin crust. We also had the crab pretzel for an appetizer. I thought the pretzel was going to be bigger than what it was (if you have ever been to Philly, you know the size of a real pretzel), but it was delicious! Our server, I think his name was Homer, was pretty awesome too. They have half priced pizzas on Monday and Tuesday as well. Looking forward to going back.

A hole in the wall place. I remember back in high school they usually have trivia on Wednesday nights. So if you're into that kind of thing go for it. I had the chicken quesadillas which were pretty good. I heard that the pizza is pretty good so give that a go. But usually a good place to hang for some cheap beer with some friends.

Half price pizza on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the pizza's actually good! (we had jalapeño and ground beef). A good selection of beer on tap. (We had Sam Adams Summer Time). Friendly service. Other people at the bar were our age (40s, 50s, 60s) and we felt right at home. Had a lot of fun playing the trivia game. This was our first trip, but I have a feeling this place is going to become a regular hangout.

Got clam chowder here. It wasn't anywhere close to looking like chowder, more like a very thick gray. Place is dirty and even the set up of the room looks messy. Never coming back.

Rather good food for a bar and the staff is friendly. I have never eaten from the salad bar and from the looks of it I do not recommend doing so. The parking can be a problem. If the lot is full, don't park across the street because they tow.

    (4)
  • Donna C.

I would've given them 5 stars, but their parking lot is so small and quick to fill up. Sux if you have to park somewhere else and then walk over. This place is such a neighborhood gem! It's packed with locals and it seems as if I see someone who I met through someone else whenever I go. It's by no means nice or trendy but actually reminds me of an old Pizza Hut. Kinda dark with regular tables and decor. The main entrance also puts you in a weird spot. You end up in this small entrance way between the bar and the dining area. But the food. Like everyone is saying, the pizza is the best. It's like Ledo's in that it's rectangular with thin crust but I think this is better. I think they bake it longer so that the cheese gets crispier on top. Not that it's browned or anything, but just enough that it has a bite to it. I've also had the cheese and crab topped pretzel and it's very good. Really decadent and something you'll totally feel guilty for eating. The rest of the menu is pretty typical of pub restaurant fare. Lots of sandwiches, salads etc. Pretty decent beer selection too. I also think they have karaoke one night and pizza specials like the others have noted. Writing this has made me think I should go there more! It's a chill, decent place that has it's regulars for good reason.

I may be biased because I love a good dive bar. The kind of place where your jeans and t-shirt are just fine. The pitchers are cheap, the pizza is really good (half price Monday & Tuesday!) and the people are friendly. What else do you need? The sandwiches are also good, but steer clear of the salads. The service is faster if you sit in the bar, but don't expect to get a seat if the game's on.

Update: Still love the pizza, but have now tried a few other things on the menu, and they weren't so great (a sandwich and a cheeseburger). Adjusting my review. Would give it 3.5 if there were half stars. Stick with the pizza. ---------------------- LOVE the pizza! The crust is delicious... and, I'm not usually a thin crust pizza kind of girl. This crust is sort of like a cross between pizza crust and pie crust... you have to taste it to understand. Very kid friendly. Despite the crowded nature of the parking lot, there is a lot of seating inside...

the 5-star rating is for the pizza, not the atmosphere. atmosphere is nothing spectacular. 1/2 price pizza mon & tue causing the parking lot to be NUTS from 6-8-pm. the crust and sauce on the pizza is dynamite. i prefer coming in after the initial dinner rush and grabbing a booth at the bar for a pitcher of beer and inexpensive, delicious xtra cheese, pepperoni and banana pepper pizza :)
